2-Bromo-6-hydroxybenzaldehyde (2.0 g), 4-chlorophenylboronic acid (1.86 g) and tetrakis(triphenylphosphine)palladium(0) (0.575 g) were suspended in a mixed solvent of dimethoxyethane (7 mL), ethanol (2 mL) and 2N Na2CO3 aqueous solution (5 mL). The reaction mixture was heated at 90° C. for 2 hours. The reaction mixture was diluted with ethyl acetate and poured into water. The organic layer was washed with water and with brine, dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate, filtered, and concentrated. The resulting solid was triturated with methanol and filtered to afford the title compound.
