Procedure
A solution of 27.7 g of NaNO2 in 250 ml of water is added slowly to a mixture, cooled to -5° C., of 59 g of the product of step C with 1050 ml of AcOH and 1420 ml of concentrated HCl. After 1 hour 20 minutes of stirring at 0° C., the mixture is cooled to -10° C. and a solution of 236 g of SnCl2.2H2O in 250 ml of concentrated HCl is added. The temperature is allowed to rise to RT, and the precipitate is filtered off, washed with concentrated HCl and dried under vacuum to obtain 56.36 g of expected product.
