A solution of 7-(2-chloro propenyl)-4-methyl coumarin (120 g, 0.48 mol) in a mixture of p-disopropyl-benzene (1L) and n-butyric anhydride 160 mL was heated to 180° C. for 24 hours. The organic layer was evaporated under reduced pressure and residue recrystallizated from ethanol to afford 75 g of the desired compound.
