A mixture of ethyl 2,4-difluoro-5-nitrobenzoate (22) (1.0 g; 4.33 mmol), 4f (0.95 g; 4.33 mmol) and triethylamine (0.6 ml; 0.33 mmol) in anhydrous NMP (10 ml) was heated to 80° C. for one hour. The cooled mixture was poured into water and extracted with ethyl acetate. The organic extract was dried over magnesium sulphate, concentrated under reduced pressure and purified by column-chromatography on silica gel using ethyl acetate as the eluent. Yield: 1.53 g (82%).
