Following the procedure of Example 1 but substituting α-methoxychalcone for α-methylchalcone, and reacting the same with hydrazine hydrate, there is prepared 3,5-diphenyl-4-methoxypyrazoline. The so-formed pyrazoline is then reacted with Pd/C at reflux to obtain 3,5-diphenyl-4-methoxypyrazole in good yield.
