Procedure

A mixture of methyl 4-acetylbenzoate (5.00 g, 28.1 mmol) in DMF-DMA (38 mL, 284 mmol) was heated at 105° C. for 20 hours. The reaction was cooled, concentrated, and used crude in the next reaction.
