To a solution of 6-chloro-2-[1-(3-chloro-2-pyridinyl)-3-(trifluoromethyl)-1H-pyrazol-5-yl]-8-methyl-4H-3,1-benzoxazin-4-one (i.e. the benzoxazinone product of Example 1, Step D) (4.50 g, 10.18 mmol) in tetrahydrofuran (THF; 70 mL) was added methylamine (2.0 M solution in THF, 15 mL, 30.0 mmol) dropwise and the reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature for 5 minutes. The tetrahydrofuran solvent was evaporated under reduced pressure and the residual solid was purified by chromatography on silica gel to afford 4.09 g of the title compound, a compound of the present invention, as a white solid melting at 185-186° C.
