Procedure

The mixture of tert-butyl (2R,4R)-2-(3-ethoxy-3-oxopropyl)-4-[(methylsulfonyl)oxy]pyrrolidine-1-carboxylate (462 mg, 1.20 mmol, step 3 of Example 8) and sodium azide (228 mg, 3.5 mmol) in N,N-dimethylformamide (10 mL) was stirred at 80° C. for 14 h. After cooling to room temperature, the mixture was diluted with ethyl acetate (150 mL), washed with water (50 mL×2) and brine (50 mL). The organic layer was separated, dried over sodium sulfate, and concentrated under reduced pressure to give 562 mg (100%) of the title compound as a colorless oil, which was used for the next step without further purification.
