1,1′-bis(di-t-butylphosphino)ferrocene palladium dichloride (0.263 g, 0.386 mmol) was added to a stirred, degassed mixture of INTERMEDIATE 9 (4.00 g, 7.73 mmol), 5-chloro-2-methoxy phenyl boronic acid (1.44 g, 7.73 mmol) and K2CO3 (4.27 g, 30.9 mmol) in THF (30 mL). The mixture was stirred at room temperature for 1 h. LCMS showed that no starting material was left. Water was added and the mixture was extracted with EtOAc (3×60 mL). The combined organic layers were washed with brine and dried (Na2SO4). The title compound was obtained as a colorless solid after flash chromatography using CH2Cl2/hexane (8:2) as the eluant.
