A solution of 3-(4-trifluoromethoxy-phenyl)-3,9-diaza-bicyclo[3.3.1]nonane-2,4-dione (80 mg, 0.25 mmol) and THF (4 mL) was heated at 70° C. under N2. A solution of BH3.SMe2 (2M in THF, 0.4 mL, 0.8 mmol) was added dropwise. After 40 min, 6N HCl (1.0 mL) was added dropwise (Caution: H2 evolution). After an additional 30 min, the reaction was poured into 1N NaOH (8 mL) and extracted with dichloromethane (30 mL×2). The combined organic extracts were dried, filtered and concentrated to give 3-(4-trifluoromethoxy-phenyl)-3,9-diaza-bicyclo[3.3.1]nonane: MS (ESI): 287.5 (M+H).
