A mixture of (2S,3R)-allyl 2-(aminomethyl)-3-methylpiperidine-1-carboxylate (1.36 g, 6.43 mmol), 2-chloro-5-(trifluoromethyl)pyridine (1.75 g, 9.645 mmol), and Cs2CO3 (4.2 g, 12.86 mmol) in DMF (20 mL) was stirred at 80° C. for 2 days. The reaction mixture was diluted with EtOAc and washed with brine. The organic layer was separated, dried with MgSO4 and concentrated in vacuo. The crude residue was purified by chromatography on silica gel (EtOAc/hexanes) to give the title compound. ESI-MS (m/z): 358 [M+1]+.
