Procedure
6-(4-Chlorophenyl)-1-(2-dimethylaminomethyl-5,7-dihydro-4H-furo[2,3-c]pyridin-6-yl)hexan-1-one 0.528 g was dissolved in 2 ml of methanol; hydrogen chloride in ethyl acetate was added in excess, followed by stirring. This solution was concentrated and washed with diethyl ether to yield the desired product.
