Procedure
7 g (0.0154 mole) of 1-[1-(3,4-dimethoxy-phenyl)-3,3-diethoxy-propyl]-6,7-dimethoxy-isoquinoline, prepared as described in example 7A, are refluxed at 160° C. for 16 hours in a mixture of 9 ml of dimethylformamide, 1.3 ml of 85% formic acid and 0.5 ml concentrated hydrochloric acid. After the reaction mixture has been concentrated under reduced pressure, it is made alkaline and extracted with benzene. 4 g of the title product are obtained, equivalent to a yield of 71.5%. m.p. 170° C.
