A 2.77 g sample of (R)-1-t-butoxycarbonyl-2-pyrrolidinemethanol and 3 g of 3-hydroxyquinoline were reacted with triphenylphosphine and DEAD in 100 mL of THF according to the procedure of Example 14a, to give 2.5 g of the title compound. MS (DCI/NH3) m/e 329 (M+H)+. 1H NMR (CDCl3, 300 MHz) δ: 8.67 (d, J=3 Hz 1H), 8.4 (d, J=7 Hz, 1H), 7.72 (dd, J=7, 1 Hz 1H), 7.56-7.40 (m, 3H), 4.24-3.94 (m, 3 H), 3.42 (bs 2H), 2.11-1.94 (m 3H), 1.92-1.48 (m 1H), (s 9H).
