2-[5-Benzyloxycarbonylamino-6-oxo-2-(4-pyridyl)-1,6-dihydro-1-pyrimidyl]-N-(1-benzyl-3,3,3-trifluoro-2-hydroxypropyl)acetamide was synthesized in the same manner as in Example 1. That is, [5-benzyloxycarbonylamino-6-oxo-2-(4-pyridyl)-1,6-dihydro-1-pyrimidinyl]acetic acid (title compound in Reference Example 18, 2.66 g, 6.57 mmol) was treated with 3-amino-1,1,1-trifluoro-4-phenyl-2-butanol (title compound in Reference Example 1, 1.51 g, 6.89 mmol), WSCI hydrochloride (1.51 g, 7.88 mmol) and HOBT (1.77 g, 13.1 mmol) in DMF (25 mL) to give 3.59 g (94%) of the target compound as pale-yellow crystals.
