To a solution of [1-(2-cyano-pyridin-4-ylmethyl)-2-oxopyrrolidin-3-(S)-yl]carbamic acid tert-butyl ester (3.34 g, 10.6 mmol) in 50 mL of CH2Cl2 is added 5 mL of TFA. The reaction mixture is stirred for 18 hours and then concentrated to give the title compound (3.40 g, 10.3 mmol) as a white foam.
