Procedure
In ethanol (10 mL) was dissolved methyl 2,2-dimethyl-3-[(5-{4-[4-(trifluoromethyl)-1-{[2-(trimethylsilyl)ethoxy]methyl}-1H-imidazol-2-yl]phenyl}pyridin-2-yl]oxy]-propanoate (490 mg), 2N aqueous sodium hydroxide solution (2.2 mL) was added to the solution, and the mixture was stirred at room temperature overnight. The reaction mixture was ice-cooled and neutralized with 2N hydrochloric acid (2.2 mL), then, ethyl acetate and saturated brine were added to the mixture, and the liquids were separated. The organic layer was separated, dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate, and concentrated under reduced pressure. The residue was purified by silica gel column chromatography (chloroform:methanol=100:0 to 97:3) to obtain 2,2-dimethyl-3-[(5-{4-[4-(trifluoromethyl)-1-{[2-(trimethylsilyl)ethoxy]methyl}-1H-imidazol-2-yl]phenyl}-pyridin-2-yl)oxy]propanoic acid (287 mg).
