A solution of tert-butyl(3-(tert-butyl)bicyclo[1.1.1]pentan-1-yl)carbamate (0.983 g, 4.11 mmol) in EtOAc (10.3 mL) was treated with HCl (4.0M in dioxane, 41.1 mmol, 10.3 mL) and allowed to stir at r.t. overnight. The solution was concentrated under reduced pressure to afford the crude product as an off-white solid. The solid was triturated with Et2O (3×10 mL) to afford compound 15 as a white solid (0.6911 g). MS: m/z 140.2 [M+H]+.
