A solution of 4-((6-((2-(2,4-difluorophenyl)oxiran-2-yl)difluoromethyl)pyridin-3-yl)oxy)benzonitrile (3.5 g, 8.74 mmol) and sodium azide (1.705 g, 26.2 mmol) in DMF (43.7 mL) was heated at 50° C. for 17 h. The reaction was poured into sat. aq. NaHCO3, and the mixture was extracted with Et2O (3×). The combined organic phases were washed with brine, dried (MgSO4) and concentrated to give the title compound as a brown oil (3.353 g, 69%).
