A solution of 3-iodo-1-methyl-1H-pyrazole (1.7 g), (4S)-4-((tert-butyl(dimethyl)silyl)oxy)pyrrolidin-2-one (1.8 g), copper(I) iodide (315 mg), N1,N2-dimethylethane-1,2-diamine (0.36 mL) and tripotassium phosphate (3.5 g) in cyclopentyl methyl ether (34 mL) was stirred overnight at 120° C. The reaction mixture was diluted with ethyl acetate, washed with saturated aqueous ammonium chloride solution, water and saturated brine, and dried over anhydrous magnesium sulfate, and the solvent was evaporated under reduced pressure. The residue was purified by silica gel column chromatography (ethyl acetate/hexane) to give the title compound (2.1 g).
