Procedure
A mixture of 410 mg of methoxymethyl (1R,trans,ΔE) 2,2-dimethyl-3-[2-tert.-butoxy-2-methoxy carbonyl-ethenyl]cyclopropane-carboxylate, 8 ml of methanol, 8 ml of acetone and 16 ml of aqueous N hydrochloric acid was stirred at 20° C. for 6 hours and was poured into water. The mixture was extracted with ether and the organic phase was evaporated to dryness under reduced pressure to obtain 300 mg of (1R,trans,ΔE) 2,2-dimethyl-3-[2-tert.-butoxy-2-methoxy carbonyl-ethenyl]cyclopropane-carboxylic acid.
