Procedure

To a stirred solution of 1-(1,1-dimethylethyl) 3-methyl 4-(4-chlorophenyl)-5,6-dihydro-1,3(2H)-pyridinedicarboxylate (P29, 1.85 g) in diethylether (37.04 mL) at −20° C., LiAlH4 1M solution in diethylether (3.68 mL) was added dropwise and the resulting mixture was stirred at −20° C. for 20 min. A solution of HCl 2% in water (4.44 mL), diethylether and water were added and the organic phase was separated, dried over Na2SO4, filtered and evaporated under reduced pressure to obtain the title compound (1.487 g).
