Procedure

A solution of 50 mg (2.09 mmol) LiOH in 5 mL water was added to a solution of 800 mg (1.33 mmol) (R)-2-(4-benzyloxy-3-ethyl-5-methyl-phenyl)-1-methoxy-carbonyl-ethyl 4-(2-oxo-1,2,4,5-tetrahydro-1,3-benzodiazepin-3-yl)-piperidine-1-carboxylate in 15 mL THF and the reaction mixture was stirred for 1 h at RT. The mixture was evaporated down i.vac., the residue was taken up in 50 mL water and 2 M HCl was added until an acidic reaction was obtained. The precipitate formed was filtered off, washed with water and dried. Further purification was carried out by decocting with 150 mL water, filtration and drying again.
