N-(5-Chloropyridin-2-yl)-2-[2-(1,4-dioxaspiro[4.5]dec-8-yloxy)-4-isopropyl-benzoylamino]benzamide (960 mg, 1.75 mmol) was dissolved in THF (30 mL). The solution was cooled to ice-water bath temperature and 5 M HCl (5.6 mL, 28 mmol) was added dropwise. The reaction was allowed to warm to room temperature and stir for 6 h. Water (100 mL) was added, and the pH was adjusted to 8 with 5 M NaOH. THF was removed on the rotary evaporator and the precipitated white solid was filtered, washed with water, and dried under vacuum to give 790 mg (90%) of the desired ketone as a white solid.
