A solution of 1,1-dimethyl-2-(6-methyl-1H-indol-3-yl)-ethylamine (2 mmole, prepared according to Lit. 2) and acetic anhydride (2.2 mmole) in dichloromethane (3 ml) was treated with triethylamine (6 mmole) and the mixture was stirred at 22° C. for 18 h. The mixture was washed with aqueous hydrochloric acid (1N), the organic layer was dried and evaporated to give N-[1,1-dimethyl-2-(6-methyl-1H-indol-3-yl)-ethyl]-acetamide as a brownish solid. MS: 243.2 ([M−H]−).
