Pyrrolidine (1.54 g, 21.6 mmol) in anhydrous MeCN (10 mL) was added with stirring to 2-(4-bromophenoxy)-2-methylpropanoyl chloride (2 g, 7.2 mmol) in anhydrous MeCN (10 mL) at 0° C. The mixture was stirred at room temperature for 18 h and acidified with HCl (aq. 1M, 40 mL). Brine was added and the mixture was extracted with CH2Cl2. The combined extracts were washed with NaHCO3 (aq. sat) and brine, dried (Na2SO4), and concentrated to give the sub-title compound (2.12 g, 94%).
