Procedure
In 24 ml of triethylamine were dissolved 1.3 g (3 mmole) of 1-(2-benzyloxy-3-octadecyloxy)propanol and 1.7 g (9 mmole) of tosyl chloride, and the solution was warmed at 65° C. and stirred for 1.5 days. The reaction solution was concentrated to dryness under reduced pressure, and the residue was dissolved in chloroform. The solution was washed with water, dried over potassium carbonate. The solvent was distilled off under reduced pressure, and the residue was subjected to separation and purification by chromatography on a column of 40 g of silica gel. From the eluate of n-hexane-ethyl acetate (4:1), there was obtained the objective compound in the form of a colorless oil. Yield of 1.4 g (83%).
