In 200 ml of isopropanol was dissolved 28 g of the 1-acetoxy-3-(benzyloxycarbonylamino)propane, and 2.5 g of 5% palladium-carbon and 10 ml of conc. hydrochloric acid were added thereto, after which the resulting mixture was subjected to catalytic reduction at room temperature. Subsequently, the palladium-carbon was removed by filtration and the solvent was removed by distillation under reduced pressure to obtain 12 g of oily 1-acetoxy-3-aminopropane hydrochloride.
