In the same manner as described in Example 13 by using (1S, 3S)-3-hydroxymethyl-1-methyl-1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-β-carboline (1.08 g), triethylamine (1.01 g), CS2 (0.76 g), ethyl iodide (1.56 g), methanol (25 ml) and water (2.5 ml), there is prepared the title compound (1.25 g, 78%) as white powder, [α]D20 +176.0° (c=1, methanol). NMR (CDCl3, δ): 1.38 (t, J=7.3 Hz, 3H, CSSCH2CH3), 1.62 (d, J=6.8 Hz, 3H, C1 --CH3), Mass m/e: 320 (M+), 291 (M+ --C2H5), 258 (M+ --C2H5SH).
