Procedure

7 g (41.3 mmoles) of 5,6-dihydrocyclobuta[4,5]benzo[1,2-b]furan-6-carbonitrile are dissolved in 490 mL of ethanol. 70 mL of 28% NH4OH solution and 1 g of Raney nickel are added. Hydrogenation is carried out under a pressure of 5 bar, at 25° C., for 3 days. Filtration over Celite and evaporation of the filtrate to dryness are carried out. The expected product is obtained in the form of a yellow oil.
