To a solution of 4-(3-amino-phenoxy)-pyridine-2-carboxylic acid methyl ester (0.79 g, 5.35 mmol) in CH2Cl2 (3 mL) was added 1,1′-carbonyldiimidazole (0.87 g, 5.35 mmol), and the reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature for 12 h. A solution of 1-methyl-5-aminoindazol (1.02 g, 6.96 mmol) in CH2Cl2 (4 mL) was added, and the mixture stirred at room temperature an additional 8 h. The mixture was concentrated in vacuo. Purification of the crude product by column chromatography eluted with CH2Cl2/MeOH (95:5) gave 850 mg (38%) of the title compound. 1H-NMR (CD3OD) δ 8.57 (dd, 1H), 7.95 (d, 1H), 7.87 (d, 1H), 7.54 (d, 1H), 7.53-7.51 (m, 2H), 7.47-7.32 (m, 2H), 7.32 (d, 1H), 7.21 (dd, 1H), 6.86 (dd, 1H). 4.07 (s, 3H), 3.96 (s, 3H); MS LC-MS [M+H]+=418.2, RT=2.91 min.
