Procedure
1-Propyl-2-[2′-(1-trityl-1H-tetrazol-5-yl)-biphenyl-4-ylmethyl]-1H-imidazole-4-carboxylic acid ethyl ester (400 mg, 607 μmol) was dissolved in THF (12.0 mL, 148 mmol). A solution of lithium hydroxide monohydrate (127 mg, 3.0 mmol) in water (4.0 mL, 222 mmol) was then added and the mixture was stirred at 40° C. for ˜40 hours to yield the title compound (380 mg).
