The 2-amino substituent of Step A product when treated with sodium nitrite as described in Step E of Preparation 81 is converted to the 2-hydroxy group. Treatment of the 2-hydroxy-3-morpholino-6-methopxypyrazine with phosphorus oxychloride by Preparation 13, Step B method, gives 2-chloro-3-morpholino-6-methoxypyrazine.
