To a solution of (1-(phenylsulfonyl)-2-(p-tolyl)-1H-imidazol-4-yl)(3,4,5-trimethoxyphenyl)methanone (11da, 492 mg, 1.0 mmol) in THF (15.0 mL) was added 1.0 M tetrabutyl ammonium fluoride (2.0 mL, 2.0 mmol) and stirred overnight. The reaction mixture was diluted by 30 mL of saturated NaHCO3 solution (aqueous) and extracted by ethyl acetate (80 mL). The organic layer was dried over magnesium sulfate and concentrated. The residue was recrystallized from water and methanol to give a white solid. Yield: 88.5%.
