Procedure

A mixture of 26 g of 5-aminomethyl-3-ethyl-1,2,4-oxadiazole and 30 ml of dimethylformamide dimethylacetal is heated for 61/2 hours to 80° C. (bath temperature). Then 16 ml of methanol is distilled off and the formed product is purified by bulb tube distillation. 27.9 g (74.8%) of oil with a boiling point of 130°-150° C. (0.05 torr); nD20 : 1.4924.
