To a stirred cooled (0° C.) solution of tert-butyl 4-(7,7-dimethyl-6-oxo-6,7-dihydro-5H-pyrrolo[2,3-b]pyrazin-5-yl)piperidine-1-carboxylate (0.700 g, 2.021 mmol) in EtOAc (15 mL) was added hydrogen chloride (2.53 ml, 10.10 mmol). The mixture was then stirred at room temperature over the weekend, concentrated to dryness and used in the next step (570 mg, 100%). MS (M+1): 283.1
