To a solution of (4-tert-butoxycarbonylamino-phenyl)-acetic acid (100 mg, 0.39 mmol), N,N′-diisopropylcarbodiimide (60 mg, 0.47 mmol) and DMAP (15 mg, 0.12 mmol) in dry acetonitrile (15 mL) was added (S)-2-ethoxy-3-(4-hydroxy-phenyl)-propionic acid benzyl ester (120 mg, 0.39 mmol). The mixture was stirred for 3 h at r.t. before the solvent was evaporated and the remaining crude product directly purified by HPLC. The title compound was obtained as a solid (48 mg, 22.6%). 1H NMR (400 MHz, CDCl3): δ 7.25-7.36 (m, 9H), 7.16-7.18 (d, 2H), 6.91-6.93 (d, 2H), 5.12 (s, 2H), 4.00-4.03 (dd, 1H), 3.77 (s, 2H), 3.55-3.29 (m, 1H), 3.30-3.36 (m, 1H), 2.97-2.99 (m, 2H), 1.51 (s, 9H), 1.11-1.14 (t, 3H).
