To a solution of N-(3,5-difluoro-4-iodopyridin-2-yl)propane-1-sulfonamide (0.68 g, 1.88 mmol) in anhydrous DMF (25 ml) at 0° C. was added sodium hydride (60% dispersion in mineral oil, 0.15 g, 3.8 mmol). The reaction mixture was stirred for 10 min, and then SEMCl (0.47 g, 2.8 mmol) was added. The mixture was stirred for 1 h and was then concentrated. Water was added and the mixture was extracted with ethyl acetate. The organic layers were combined, dried over sodium sulfate, and concentrated. The residue was chromatographed on silica gel (5 to 20% ethyl acetate in hexanes eluant) to provide the title compound. MS m/z 515.1 (M+Na).
