To the reaction vessel containing N-(2,4-dimethoxybenzyl)-1-(2′,5-dimethyl-3,4′-bipyridin-6-yl)methanamine 81-4 (0.54 g, 1.5 mmol) was added trifluoroacetic acid (2 mL). The reaction was stirred at room temperature for 2 hours. TFA was removed by rotary evaporation to give crude (2′,5-dimethyl-3,4′-bipyridin-6-yl)methanamine 81-5. MS m/z 214.2 (M+1).
