To a mixture of sodium hydride (60%, 2.1 g) in DMF (35 mL) was added benzylalcohol (5.61 g) at 0° C., and the mixture was stirred for 30 min. 3-Fluoro-4-(2-methyl-1,3-oxazol-5-yl)benzonitrile (3.50 g) was added to this reaction mixture at 0° C., and the mixture was stirred at room temperature for 1 hr, and diluted with water. The resultant precipitate was collected by filtration and washed with water to give the title compound (5.20 g).
