Procedure
A mixture of 2,3-dichloropyrido[3,4-b]pyrazine (100 mg, 0.500 mmol), cyclobutanamine (47.0 μL, 0.550 mmol) and DIPEA (260 μL, 1.500 mmol) was stirred at 0° C. for 15 min then at rt for 30 min. Saturated aqueous NH4Cl was added to the mixture and the product was extracted with EtOAc. The combined organic layers were filtered through a pad of silica (EtOAc wash) and the filtrate was concentrated to afford 3-chloro-N-cyclobutylpyrido[3,4-b]pyrazin-2-amine (116.1 mg, 99%) as a yellow solid, which was used without further purification. ESI-MS m/z [M+H]+ 235.2.
