A mixture of N2,N4-bis(3,4-ethylenedioxyphenyl)-5-bromo-2,4-pyrimidinediamine (20 mg, 0.044 mmol) and phenylboronic acid (6.9 mg, 0.057 mmol) in DME (1 mL) was prepared in a sealed tube and purged with N2. Tetrakis(triphenylphosphine) palladium(0) (0.002 mmol) was added, and the reaction tube sealed and heated at 80° C. overnight. After cooling, the reaction mixture was diluted with EtOAc, washed with 1N NaOH and brine, dried (MgSO4), and concentrated. The residue was purified by preparative TLC (40% EtOAc/hexanes) to afford N2,N4-bis(3,4-ethylenedioxyphenyl)-5-phenyl-2,4-pyrimidinediamine. 1H NMR (CD3OD): δ 7.77 (s, 1H), 7.52-7.36 (m, 5H), 7.10 (d, 1H, J=2.4 Hz), 7.05 (d, 1H, J=2.4 Hz), 6.93 (dd, 1H, J=2.4 and 8.7 Hz), 6.87 (dd, 1H, J=2.4 and 8.7 Hz), 6.73 (d, 1H, J=8.7 Hz), 6.69 (d, 1H, J=8.7 Hz), 4.23-4.20 (m, 8H); LCMS: ret. time: 25.38 min.; purity: 100%; MS (m/e): 455 (MH+).
