Procedure

In a 200 mL round-bottomed flask, to a solution of Example 85C (6.24 g, 13.4 mmol) in ethyl acetate (20 mL) was added hydrogen chloride (4 N in dioxane, 20 mL) and stirred at 20° C. for 2 hour. The reaction was concentrated and triturated with ethyl acetate. The solid was collected and dried to provide the title compound as the hydrogen chloride salt (2.12 g, 61%). 1H NMR (500 MHz, DMSO-d6) δ ppm 1.28 (s, 9H) 1.61-1.69 (m, 1H) 1.81-1.89 (m, 1H) 2.73-2.81 (m, 1H) 3.45 (dd, J=8.85, 5.80 Hz, 1H) 3.61-3.67 (m, 3H) 3.78-3.84 (m, 1H) 4.17-4.26 (m, 2H) 5.53 (s, 1H) 7.07 (s, 2H); MS (DCI/NH3) m/z 224 (M+H)+.
