To a solution of 2-chloro-5-formyl-N-(tricyclo [3.3.1.13,7]dec-1-ylmethyl)-benzamide (0.150 g, Example 1b) and 2-(2-aminoethoxy)ethanol (0.065 ml) in 1,2-dichloroethane (6 ml) was added sodium triacetoxyborohydride (0.134 g), and the mixture was stirred overnight at room temperature. Water (20 ml) and dichloromethane (20 ml) were added and the layers were partitioned. The organics were washed with brine (30 ml), dried over anhydrous magnesium sulfate, filtered and concentrated under reduced pressure. The residue was purified by NPHPLC eluting with a gradient of 0–10% ethanol in dichloromethane to give the title compound as a white powder (0.016 g).
