LiOH (0.71 g, 29.7 mmol) is added to the cold solution of 2-{4-[2-tert-butoxycarbonylamino-3-(4-fluorophenyl)-propionyl]-3-methoxymethyl-piperazine-1-yl}-3-naphthalen-2-yl-propionic acid methyl ester, 63, (3.6 g, 5.9 mmol) in THF/H2O (2/1, 60 mL). The reaction mixture is stirred for overnight. The reaction mixture is cooled in ice bath and pH is adjusted to 3 with 1M HCl. The aqueous layer is extracted with EtOAc (3×100 mL) and dried over Na2SO4. The solution is concentrated in vacuo to afford 3.7 g 100% yield) of the desired product.
