Procedure
In a 250 ml round bottom flask were placed 47.68 grams of 2-methoxyethylamine and 49.26 grams of a 40% by weight solution of aqueous methylamine. The stirred solution was cooled in a water bath and 103.06 grams of a 37% by weight solution of formaldehyde in water was added dropwise at such a rate as to keep the temperature below about 65° C. to give a clear, colorless solution. The resulting mixture of amines was shown to reduce H2S levels.
