Following a procedure similar to that described in Example 35(a), 5.70 g of 2-(2-{2-[2-(3-methoxyphenyl)ethyl]phenoxy}ethyl)-1-methylpyrrolidine [prepared as described in step (a) above] were converted to the hydrochloride, to give 4.89 g (yield 36%) of the title compound as colorless crystals.
