To a solution of 2-(2-formamidothiazol-4-yl)glyoxylic acid (5.5 g.) in ethanol (100 ml. ) was added a solution of 2-(aminooxy)ethylamine.dihydrochloride (4.1 g.) in water (50 ml.). The resulting mixture was adjusted to pH 4 with an aqueous solution of sodium bicarbonate and stirred for 3 hours at room temperature.
