A mixture of 2-chloro-4-(4-chlorophenyl)-5-[3-(2-methoxyphenoxy)propyl]oxazole (500 mg), 2-undecylimidazole (500 mg), potassium carbonate (1.38 g) and N,N-dimethylformamide (10 ml) was stirred at 120-130° C. for 4 hours. The reaction mixture was poured into water (100 ml) and extracted with ethyl acetate (100 ml×2). The organic layer was dried over anhydrous magnesium sulfate and concentrated. The residue was recrystallized from diethyl ether-hexane to give 4-(4-chlorophenyl)-5-[3-(2-methoxyphenoxy)propyl]-2-(2-undecyl-1-imidazolyl)oxazole as pale yellow prisms (100 mg, 13%). Melting point 53-54° C.
