To a degassed solution of 5-chloro-1-(p-tolylsulfonyl)-3-(4,4,5,5-tetramethyl-1,3,2-dioxaborolan-2-yl)pyrrolo[2,3-b]pyridine (0.71 g, 1.65 mmol), (R)-tert-butyl 3-((2-chloro-5-fluoropyrimidin-4-ylamino)methyl)-piperidine-1-carboxylate, 11a, (1.19 g, 3.60 mmol) and aqueous K2CO3 (2.48 mL of 2 M solution, 4.97 mmol) in THF (30 mL) was added bis(tri-tert-butylphosphine)palladium(0) (0.17 g, 0.33 mmol). The reaction mixture was degassed for an additional 15 min. The mixture was stirred at room temperature for 4 hours, concentrated in vacuo, and the resulting crude residue was purified by silica gel chromatography (10%-80% EtOAc/hexanes) to afford the desired product, 11b.
